this weekend with my mom I attended one of the trips organized by his place of work, Recoaro destination Spa, for a weekend of snowshoeing. Do not tell you how much I enjoyed it!
It started on Friday, the day of our arrival, after dinner, the guide led us immediately to make a short ride along the Trail of Big Trees. It 'was very charming snowshoeing in the night, with the cold air that pinch my cheeks and the light of a beautiful full moon to illuminate the street.
all day on Saturday instead for the mountains under a clear sky (Luckily the guide had sunglasses to lend, I idiot I left my home) and when you get to the shelter with picnic lunch basket preparatoci the morning away.
But the most beautiful and interesting we did on Sunday morning. Those of us wanted (very few, but worse for them) we were able to join another group to participate in an Excursion-style natural / environmental through the woods of Recoaro Mille, among other things, the light snow coming down that day made it very attractive and charming.
guide (very nice, and very competent) showed us the features and the peculiarities of the plants as they find them, explaining how to recognize and enrich everything with curiosity and interest of the cultural mold. For instance, we explained why the presence of several lime trees: around the year one thousand Cimbri descended from Germany according to their religious beliefs and the sacred tree was a linden. Also in relation to their faith are based also many place names from the territory and the Val Frenzela is the Italianization of Freyentaal or site dedicated to the goddess Freya.
addition we discussed the floral aspect of game that too: we were shown the bed of a deer, the trees we saw the holes made by woodpeckers and we were told that this bird is useful to the ecosystem , we have been taught the difference in shape of the single badger from that of other animals and the rate has always talked about his social life and his home, more so many other things that now I'm not here to finish the list otherwise more.
The stay was as pleasant, the hotel was very comfortable and the staff very helpful, as well as friendly. There was even available to the sauna, the Excursion on Saturday after he showed us all, then finished with a warm bath in the outdoor hot tub on the roof, surrounded by snowy peaks.
Not to mention the food! We had eaten of that will not tell you, including polenta with salt cod, stuffed guinea fowl, duck and pasta with zucchini, asparagus roll (just to name a few) and we stuffed a princely breakfast duty. In short, they treated us really well!
The town itself but I was not impressed that much, some ancient buildings with balconies liberty were really nice for charity but there were a lot of ugly houses, also a bit 'for the period (low season) a bit' much of the country was neglected and left to itself, the air we breathed was rather depressing. But I must say that those ancient villas lifeless also instilled a vague aura of decadence strangely attractive mixed nostalgia.
